Snow

We had stayed at our parents house for about a week over Christmas. When we got back to the town we live in we were amazed at the snow they had gotten during the week we were gone. I bet it was a foot deeper and my car was buried in snow. It was pretty crazy.

Birthday

A good friend of ours just celebrated his birthday so my brother and I are going to take him out to eat at the Texas Roadhouse and then to a movie. We thought it would be a fun night out for him and of course us. While waiting for our seats at the Texas Roadhouse we sat and ate peanuts out of a big bucket and were allowed to throw the shells on the floor. We had a great time!

Christmas Present

This year I got the best Christmas present yet. My parents bought me an HP laptop and I needed a new one so bad. My other one still works but it was very slow. They also bought me other great presents besides so this Christmas ranks pretty high. I appreciate the gifts so much. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Israel

Israel is my little second cousin and he is pretty cute. I got to see him at our family Christmas gathering and was able to hold him for a little bit. He is just over a year old and is a pretty cool little guy. He was quite cuddly when I was holding him and we got some pictures of that.

Slippery Roads

New Baby

My cousin's wife is going to have their baby girl tomorrow. That is pretty exciting. Thanksgiving Break

My brother and I are heading home on Monday to spend Thanksgiving break with our folks. My mom has to work on Thanksgiving Day so we are planning our big deal on the following Sunday. It will be nice to be home again and have some more of my mom's home cooking.

One of my favorite new fall shows is The Defenders. It is a great comedy/drama show. The actors in it are amazing and make the show. I don't miss an episode. I'm sure glad they finally got a good show on like this.

It is crazy how the great weather continues. I keep hearing how we had quite a bit of snow on the ground already a year ago. We've had nothing but sunshine and highs in the 50s and 60s. I love this weather and hope it last the whole month of November or longer.

Scary Movies

UNI Senior Hunts Ghosts

Yesterday we got copies of the UNI paper that has an article about me and my brother who do a lot of ghost hunting. It is a great article and we are very excited about it. Ghost Hunting

We have been very busy with our ghost hunting. About a month ago we did some hunting at an old theater, then we've been to a school, and soon we will be going to another theater. We are trying to show people Haunted Iowa. We are excited about the footage we already have. It should be pretty great!

60th Anniversary

Saturday night we celebrated my grandparents 60th anniversary. We got a party room at the Pizza Ranch and had their buffet which is delicious! Then my grandparents opened their gifts and later we sat and watched a video that was put together of pictures from the past to the present of the families. It was a good time and fun to see everyone.

My Birthday

My mom just sent me some pictures of the night we celebrated my birthday. The people who were there were my parents, brother and his girlfriend, Erikka. We had a lot of laughs and I got some pretty nice gifts. I can't believe I am 25 already.

I have a huge collection of dvds. I have collected them since I was in high school. The other night I had some friends over and my brother was pretending to be Superman and he jumped back into the stack. They all came tumbling down. It was a huge mess. Fall

Thunderstorm

We are in for some intense thunderstorms tonight. I always enjoy a good storm. The sky is looking pretty dark and threatening right now. Ghost Hunting

My brother and I are really interested in the paranormal. We have found a great many other people who are also interested in this. Therefore, we started an organization to search out haunted places and go see them and see what we can find. It has been very interesting. We have visited haunted houses, apartments and many other places. We record findings and they can be seen on YouTube. We have asked people to send us places they believe have unusual events going on and we have gotten a great response.

Family Visit

My folks came down to college to visit us. We really had a good time. It is quite a drive for them to come down here. But we sure enjoy their visits. I wish they could come down more often but they both have jobs that keep them very busy.

Fair

Tomorrow we are going to the fair. I am going to meet up with my parents and head down. My brother is working at a booth down there for his job so the whole family will be together when he gets off work. It's suppose to be horribly hot but we will make the most of it. We also have been getting lots of rain so hopefully the fair isn't all mud.

Brother

On Saturday my brother was in a wedding. He stood up for the bride so we called him a brides dude. It was a really nice wedding and it's the first one I've ever been to where there was a guy on the brides side. It was pretty cool though. After the ceremony we had a chance to take some pictures and I got one with him. I thought it turned out pretty good.

In every class I do it seems like they expect us to write these long papers. I know that's part of college but sometimes I wish there would be other ways to learn. 60th Anniversary

My folks told me recently that my grandparents are going to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this year. I think that is pretty amazing and it's great to have a good example of commitment for all those years showed to all of us who are young still.

We are very interested in the paranormal. There are some very strange things going on in the world. We have quite a group gathered together to study these things. We get excited when we get called to a place that has strange happenings going on. We would love to be able to catch on film whatever is causing these strange things to happen. Perhaps there is a simple explanation for it, but who knows? We are enjoying trying to find out.

New Apartment

We sure love our new apartment. It is so convenient to everything. Much different than when we were across town. It is in such a nice neighborhood too and we feel so much more at home here. It is very comfortable and I am very glad we were able to get it. Good apartments are hard to come by and you usually have to take a longer lease than what you would like so I guess my brother and I are blessed.

Starting Class Again

So, I have had about a month off from school because we had to move and also had a lot going on. So today I start my next class and I am dreading it. The classes are usually pretty intense and the class lasts 5 weeks. I sure hope I get a good learning team this class cause that helps tremendously!

Laundry Prices

We recently moved to a different apartment and we love it here but the one draw back is that we don't have a washer and dryer in our apartment. We have to go downstairs and do our laundry. It costs us between $3 to $5 each week and that really adds up when neither of us has a lot of income coming in. At least our rent is cheaper so that's a plus.

Jacksonville Cosmetology School

As kids graduate from school I hear so many of them talking about the careers they want to go to school for. One career that seems to be popular with the females and some males is cosmetology. I've had a few friends pursue this career and seem to enjoy it. The important thing about this is that they find a school with modern training and education. Flooding

You can't tell by the weather today that we have had a lot of rain this summer so far. There has been many places with water in their basements and the rivers out of their banks. I have heard stories like this happening all over our state. I feel for the people dealing with all the water and know what they are going through because my parents have had to deal with it also in years gone by. They have been blessed the last two years with a dry basement.

Moved

It is over a weeks since my brother and I have moved into our new apartment. We love it! It's so great to just have it the two of us. We had a friend come and stay with us over the 4th and it was such a great time. We wish we would have done this a long time ago.

Moving

In about 2 weeks my brother and I are moving to a different apartment. We can hardly wait! We just want our own place to ourselves and the apartment is pretty cool looking. We should save on rent to which will be helpful. I am hoping we have good weather when moving day arrives.

Sick

For the last couple of weeks or should I say since we got home from vacation which was over a month ago, I have been sick off and on. One day I will be pretty good and then the next day I am all stuffed up again and feeling miserable. I sure hope this ends soon. Birds

When we were sitting on the beach there would be these little birds scouring over the sand for food. We were having a snack so I decided I would share some of mine with them. They came up to us pretty close and it was fun to see them eat it.

Another awesome lighthouse we went to in Florida was the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. This lighthouse is located in Daytona Beach area. This is believed to be the highest lighthouse in Florida. It was pretty awesome going to the top of it. It was also scary at times.

St. Augustine Lighthouse

My brother and I are ghost hunters and we saw a show where a ghost hunting team went and visited the St. Augustine Lighthouse in Florida. We happen to be only an hour from there when we were on vacation so the family went and checked it out. I was so excited to be at the same one that these ghost hunters were at on television. They say this place is extremely haunted. We didn't experience anything when we were there.

Back to Class

It was really hard getting back into life after being on vacation for almost 2 weeks. I was kind of in a bad mood my first night back to work. It only lasted about half the night then I got over it. Then on Tuesday I started my next class and of course I dreaded that. But I think I'm back into the swing of things. Now if I can just get rid of this lousy cold.

When we were on vacation in Florida a couple of weeks ago we got up early one morning and headed to the beach to see the sun rise. It was stunning to look at. God has created such beauty and it was fun to see it together with my whole family.

Counting the Days

I'm counting down the days till we get to leave on vacation. It's not too many more days and we will be enjoying sunny beaches and warmer weather. It's been so long since my brother and I have been to the ocean and we can't wait. There is just something about hearing the waves roll in and the smell of the ocean. I hope the next few days go fast!

Storm Clouds

Well if I look out to the west tonight I can see some storm clouds brewing. They are talking that we could have some severe storms tonight and possibly tomorrow. The weather people are also saying we could be under a tornado watch or at least part of the state will be. Hail could be a part of them too. I don't mind a good ole thunderstorm as long as it doesn't get severe.

Ghost Hunting

I have shared in the past how much I enjoy ghost hunting. I'm always looking for new places to investigate and recently a gal I work with told me that we could go to her house and investigate. She feels it is haunted and wants to know what we can find. I'm hoping we can do that sometime in May.

The Office

I have several shows I enjoy watching but I think my favorite has to be The Office. My brother and I don't miss an episode. It is so hilarious and I own every season on dvd. I can watch them over and over again. It's the best.

New Apartment

In a couple of months my brother and I are going to be moving to a 2 bedroom apartment. We are so excited to have a place for just us. Right now we live in a 4 bedroom with another roommate. He's a good guy but we are just ready to have a place of our own for just the two of us. It can't happen fast enough. We are so looking forward to the move.

Work

I work in a casino and I am in security. I work third shift and am part time. Since I have been there I have gotten a fair amount of hours and has really worked out well. But for the last few months my hours have been cut way back. It's hard to make a living on only a few hours a week. They say they over hired and I am hoping that a couple of people quit so that my hours pick up again. I do like it there and want to continue working there.

Hail

A few weeks back we had a major thunderstorm. It was mid afternoon and it got so dark outside and it was raining hard. Then all of the sudden it started to hail quite hard. I was praying over our windows so that they would not break. The hail was quite large. After it was over, I went down to check on my car and sure enough I have hail pits all over it. Good thing I don't have a real nice looking car.

Vacation

In two weeks my family and I are going on vacation. My brother and I are pretty excited because we are going to Florida. It's been several years since my brother and I have been there. We are going to be checking out the beaches there and spending a lot of time in the sun. We are not going to any Disney parks this time which is ok with me. It should be a lot of fun and I'm ready to go NOW. :)

Weight Loss

Since January my brother and I have been really working hard at losing weight. So far I have lost over 30 pounds and am really feeling great! I need to lose more but it sure feels good when people tell me how much better I am looking and that they can tell that I have lost weight. Easter

This Sunday is Easter and our parents are planning to come visit us and attend church with us on Easter morning. I'm sure hoping it will be a warm day so maybe after church we can spend some time outside. I'm glad my mom doesn't have to work so that we can all go to church together. This will make the day fun.

Spring Break

About a week ago my brother and I went home for spring break. It was a fun week with hanging out with our parents and also several friends. We did some ghost hunting which we all very much enjoy that is with our friends not our parents. We had delicious food which my mom makes and even had a friend stay with us for a couple of days that we don't see much of. It was a very good break.

Family Vacation

This winter has been a real drag. We have gotten so much snow and most of the time the roads are slick. I am so ready for some warm weather and a family vacation with my parents and brother. I wish that we could all take a trip to Mexico where they have awesome all inclusive resorts and hotels located along the white sandy beaches there. I hear they have gourmet type food made at the Karisma hotels that are prepared by chefs. They also have hammocks and hot tubs, swim up rooms with ocean views which sounds amazing and many other cool things under one price. I know I could definitely go for a vacation such as this.

Losing Weight

Since Christmas my brother and I have been trying extremely hard to lose weight. We have been trying to walk a lot and really watch what we eat. I have lost a total of 18 pounds and I think my brother has lost about the same. I fell off the wagon last week a little bit but am back on this week and working hard at it.

Classes

I have been out of classes for a couple of months now because there was a mess up with my financial aid. I recently got an email saying everything has been worked out so I can get back into classes in March. I am very happy to say that this is extremely good news to me. I never thought I would be happy to be doing school work again. God had his hand in this and I give him all the glory.

Wrestling

On Monday we are heading down to see a wrestling event that is usually televised. My brother and I have been to several of these and they are so much fun. We try and get there early as the wrestlers arrive and many times we have been able to get autographs and pictures with them. We have the best time and I'm pretty excited about going.

Winter

This winter has been horrendous. Every week I think we are dealing with a snow storm or even ice. A couple of weeks ago we had fog for about 5 or 6 days straight then an ice storm, then a blizzard. It was terrible. I don't know one Midwestern person who isn't ready for spring. It's be absolutely ridiculous!

Classes

I got a great Christmas present this year. I found out that I had received an A- on my class I was taking. I was so worried I would not pull my grade up but this class I did very well in. That was the best present ever!

The Office

My favorite sitcom on television is The Office. I could watch this show all the time. I love it so much that I have asked for the seasons for gifts and have bought some myself. I now own every season and can watch these over and over again. It's the best!

Family All Inclusive Vacations

Family vacations are a blast. I love traveling anywhere with my family. We have so much fun and are laughing most of the time. I think it would be pretty cool to take one of those family all inclusive vacations. Such as the ones they have in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. The Karisma hotels are all inclusive resorts that are along white sandy beaches and serve gourmet cuisine. The hotel and amenities are amazing in themselves. That would be a dream come true if we could take a vacation such as this. Hopefully that will happen some day.

Villisca

Because we are part of the Villisca dvd we received 4 free passes to stay overnight in the Villisca Axe Murder house. So, my brother, myself and two friends are heading there as I write this. The weather is not good and neither are the roads. It's about a two hour drive to get there but as we head south it is getting better. It's suppose to be quite cold tonight so we are prepared for a cold night in the house. We are very excited and hope to have a great time.

Christmas at Home

We had a real nice Christmas at home this year. We celebrated on Christmas Eve because my mom had to work on Christmas day. During this time we were having a major snow storm. My dad spent most of his time moving snow where he works so it was too bad that they were both busy. Anyway, when my mom got home from work on Christmas day it was still snowing but not blowing and pretty mild outside. So, my brother and I and my mom went outside and built a snowman. We haven't done that in years. It was fun and added something special to our Christmas at home this year.
